Re: enable 0r disable OpenMP
Hi, like you I have IM installed on a mac running Snow leopard that has 2 quad cores and convert makes use of all 8 threads very efficiently. Can you answer why, when I install the same version of IM using macports on a mac running mountain Lion it doesn't install OpenMP like it does on the Snow Leo...

Re: enable 0r disable OpenMP
Thanks for the tips guys, I will take a look at these properly tomorrow and try to implement. But why would a convert command that's using 8 threads run slower than the command just using 1 thread?
Thanks,
Nik
Thanks,
Nik

enable 0r disable OpenMP
Hi there, I recently installed imagemagick 6.8.6-6 using macports, on a mac running mountain lion 10.8.4. After running a few tests I noticed that 'convert' was only using 1 of the 8 threads available. I found a post on the imagemagick forum about OpenMP not being installed when installing IM using ...

Re: bakground debris
Great explanation, many thanks. Just thought I would share how I find the centre and orientation of an image: identifyResults=$(/opt/local/bin/identify -format "%w %h %[exif:orientation]" $image1) width_centre=$(echo $identifyResults | cut -d ' ' -f1 | awk '{print $1/2}'); height_centre=$(...

Re: bakground debris
The image has a pure white fill and pure black background. He's a link to the image:
http://s22.postimg.org/4lhf6h0wx/new_background_2.png
It's the debris in the black background I want to get rid of.
Hope this helps
Thanks for looking,

bakground debris
Hi all, I have managed to create a bitmap mask but it still has some areas of the background that have debris. The simplest way I can describe what I would like to do is in Photoshop terms. I would like to select the white area of the image, based upon the centre of the image. Then I inverse the sel...

invert image
Hi there, is there a way to invert an image similar to the Photoshop command? I have used the below command to create a difference mask: convert whitebackground.JPG blackbackground.JPG -compose difference -composite \ -separate -background black -compose plus -flatten \ difference_plus.gif The image...

Re: IM 6.6.7-1 not working correctly on PowerPC G5
Hi, I'm installing IM using MacPorts into /opt/local/bin/. I wasn't aware that there was a version 6.6.7-4. I ran a port list and it still says that the only available port is 6.6.7-1. Perhaps the MacPorts site has not been updated. This problem is driving me mad now!!!! I found another PowerPc in t...

Re: IM 6.6.7-1 not working correctly on PowerPC G5
The PDF was exported from InDesign CS4 as 1.4 PDF and the embeded image is CMYK as well as all other elements of the PDF. Just as another test I upgraded another Intel ma to the latest version of IM/GS and the conversion was perfect. It really just seems to be whatever the difference is between runn...

Re: IM 6.6.7-1 not working correctly on PowerPC G5
Hi, I'm not sure how to check the version of libjpeg but that aside it doesn't seem to matter if I convert to a tif or png I still get the same results as in my previous link. This problem is so annoying as IM does exactly what I want in that it converts a pdf to its trim size and turns it into a th...

Re: IM 6.6.7-1 not working correctly on PowerPC G5
Thanks again for the reply I've exhausted as many options as possible without success so I decided to try and install and older version of IM. The PowerPC has the latest version of IM only because it's and old machine that's become available to use as a thumbnail creation server, hence the use of IM...

Re: IM 6.6.7-1 not working correctly on PowerPC G5
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I just tried to include an input and output profile but still getting the same conversion.
I will take a look at the delegates file and see if I can see anything odd.
Thanks again,
Nik
