Re: IM 6->7 Transparency changes??
for now, I uninstalled IM 7 and installed the latest 6.9.7 which works perfectly for that purpose. Looking at the changelog ( http://www.imagemagick.org/script/changelog.php ), it seems that a few bugs related to alpha channel got recently fixed. Still not yet all? @moderator: please feel free to ...

and if I ommit the -channel A, the headline and signature DO get transparent. BUT the other channels are affected and the whole picture is much darker.

Re: identify does not correctly detect iptc encoding
I don't really understand: the command line program "identify.exe" is using the Visual Basic API ??? Just tried again -6 years after- using IM 7.0.4: the identity command is still not able to output properly the characters when chcp 65001 is activated. I am using this command in a Powershell script ...

Re: Mean color in a part of the picture
indeed, giving a good subject title is always a tricky part. For instance, I ask about the mean color, but actually are more looking for "black or white labeling" as the post you mentioned, Bonzo. @ fmw42: I am using threshold exactly to get 'black' or 'white' and not the mean color directly ...

Mean color in a part of the picture
Hello, my use case seems quite classic, but I did not find direct answer yet. I started to write this thread looking for a solution, but found one in between, so more a way to share and discuss it ;) I am using IM for a while to resize my jpg for the web. I like to put the title of the picture ...

Re: Bug in convert.exe?
why don't you write convert.exe instead of convert, e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageMagick-6.7.2-Q16\convert.exe" etc Alternative is to have add your folder on your %PATH% variable (done by default at the end of the install), And using MSSQL, you might use also Windows PowerShell, which offer more ...

Re: identify does not correctly detect iptc encoding
More than one year later, I've upgraded my main IM install to version 6.7.3-0 2011-10-08 x64: it still contains the bug!
So I'll continue to work with 2 versions: the old 6.5.0 for this dedicated command, and the 6.7.3 for the rest...

Re: identify does not correctly detect iptc encoding
Thanks for the feedback. So the bug is confirmed in the current version, isn't it? What are the next steps? I think the problem is that your console isn't displaying UTF-8 properly. The difference is that I'm running on Mac OS X and the Terminal is natively UTF-8. The ExifTool FAQ number 18 ...

Re: identify does not correctly detect iptc encoding
Thanks for the feedback. I got the same output: "voilà l'été", with code pages 1252 and 850 and "voilÃ" with code page 65001. identify -version gives me: Version: ImageMagick 6.6.1-10 2010-05-15 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org Edit: just upgrated to ImageMagick 6.6.3-0 2010-07-01 Q16 x64 dll, get th ...

identify does not correctly detect iptc encoding
Hi, Although the following topic deals with similar stuff, it is here a little different. http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16083 The problem is that imageMagick seems to ignore the IPTC CodedCharacterSet. I am using exiftool via geosetter to set the IPTC fields in UTF8 ...

Re: Writing IPTC field data into a border
As I was looking how writing the IPTC headline in the top of my image, I found this topic first. So to retrieve the IPTC file, I also tried exiftool which is however much slower. And better than convert, Identify does the job well: identify -format "%[IPTC:2:105]" input.jpg As I am under Win7, I ...
