What do you mean under "force"?
I needed the dcraw command line utility with its historical switches; that's why I tried to use it.
Do you say you aren't recommending to use the one supplied with ImageMagick?
Regards,
Oleg.

Re: dcraw messed up highlights
Sorry if I'm looking "nasty", but the problem is specifically with dcraw included with Imagemagick. Yesterday I downloaded and compiled dcraw.c from https://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/ . The resulting executable works fine. Regarding the version number - it isn't changed for the last 2 years ...

Re: dcraw messed up highlights
An addition:
- using -H 1 (unclip) produces the same result
- using -H 0 (clip) produces clipped highlights as expected

dcraw messed up highlights
dcraw in version 7.0.8-7 makes burned-out skies purple in highlight-blend mode. Camera - Sony Alpha 5100. The command: dcraw.exe -v -H 2 -o 1 -q 3 -g 2.4 12.9 -b 1.7 -r 2448.000000 1024.000000 1992.000000 1024.000000 -t 0 DSC00538-00542_l.ARW As a reference I keep dcraw version compiled from dcraw.c ...

Re: Your DCRAW policy?
Well, unless you already heard of it, there's LibRaw project (https://www.libraw.org/), and they seem to continue the engine development.

Your DCRAW policy?
I'd like to understand what the future holds for dcraw support as a part of ImageMagick.
It appears like the original developer (David Coffin) discontinued dcraw.
If so, are you going to keep updating your dcraw releases for new cameras?

You are right! I forgot to replace one instance of %%.
Now it works for me.
Thanks a lot!
Oleg.

Re: How to crop a quadrant out of an image
Thanks for your effort Mr snibgo, but ... it doesn't work - the resulting images have the same size as the inputs. I pasted the command into DOS window: ---->set CONVERT="C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageMagick-7.0.5-5-portable-Q16-x86\convert.exe" ---->for %f in (*.TIF) DO %CONVERT% %f ^ More? -virtual ...

Re: How to crop a quadrant out of an image
Sorry for the confusion; I meant a square - a sub-image with horizontal and vertical dimensions being equal.
Regarding the IM version, I'd assume the latest one. My platform is MS Windows for now, though portability would be nice.
Thanks again,
Oleg.

How to crop a quadrant out of an image
Hi, is there an automatic (e.g. without external calculation) way to accomplish the following: => crop a quadrant from the centre of an image whose side = 1.1*min(image_width, image_height); with black border needed wherever required. Semantically it would be equivalent to the following not-so ...

Re: dcraw outputs pure black for Sony A5000
I downloaded and compiled the original dcraw version 9.27 . dcraw outputs pure black for Sony A5000
The problem happens in 7.* versions; earlier versions produced low-contrast images with this specific model. Sample commands and their screen outputs: F:\Work\Tools\IM_702d7>dcraw -v -o 1 -b 1 -w -T -O DSC00501.TIF DSC00501.ARW Loading Sony ILCE-5000 image from DSC00501.ARW ... Platform 0: Intel(R ...

Re: Removing borders from film scans
Hi, I'm a brother of the original poster, and we are working on this project together. Hope he won't object my intervention :). I'd like to specify the question a bit: The main reason for wanting to get rid of the border is to let consequent autolevel/autogamma/etc. do its job. E.g. we are looking ...

I tried it with TIF-s; the colors seem to match those from JPEG-s.
So, thanks a lot!
Oleg.
