6.7.7-10 is the current version in ubuntu ... what will be different if i install 6.8... ?

i observe a change in behaviour from version 6.6.9-7 to 6.7.7-10 : i am generating a panorama from a sky image with lookup tables, lutX.png and lutY.png In the older version the result is in color on the newer i get a grayscale image.
