Re: Using import root causes me to have to select an area twice.
Have you tried calling import from the terminal directly without using the script? but running it from a terminal doesn't make a difference unfortunately. Yeah, running it directly from the terminal without the script doesn't change it. One of the IM developers on Linux might be able to check this ...

Re: Using import root causes me to have to select an area twice.
Have you tried holding down the control or option/alt key while using the mouse? Yes, after you mentioned it I tried each and both at the same time. It still has me capture an image twice. Mind you, I don't need both captures and imagemagick is smart enough to name the first image with -0 at the ...

Re: Using import root causes me to have to select an area twice.
Hmmm, bump?
Is this such a hard issue to fix? I'm not sure what could be causing it. Asking me to select an area to create an image twice is weird.

Using import root causes me to have to select an area twice.
TL;DR: I'm running the following command: import root <filename>.png . The cursor changes to a cross and I select the area I wish to make an image of. The cursor switches from the cross to the pointer for a moment then back to the cross once I've selected the area. This forces me to select the area ...
