Re: Fred's film grain
After fiddling around some time I think I will go with creating hald images using GIMP based on my LUTs, then using convert to apply the output to my imagery. I'll then put some noise on top of this using noise plates. I'll adjust the latter by looking at the result rather then trying to match what ...

Re: Fred's film grain
@Bonzo, DxO-FilmPack is a PS plugin (there are many others with similar capabilities), which cannot be applied via command line. DMMD's Photoshop Host SDK might be the way to go, if PS plugins should be used, though.

Re: Fred's film grain
Yes, that sounds like an unresolved problem. Nothing to get by with a few lines of code. All those apps prentending to reproduce real film looks must be wrong then (at best close).

Re: Fred's film grain
No. Better using film grain plates then (if it should match certain characteristics). Thanks for your answer.

Re: Convert 3D LUT to hald image
I see. The most common ones seem to be Autodesk .3dl and Adobe .cube. If these don't differ in themselves, that might be a good start.
I'm not an expert in this field. But if ImageMagick was able to utilize most common standards, it might help some folks. Just my $0,02.

Fred's film grain
Regarding Fred's filmgrain script under http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/filmgrain/index.php How to compare real film grain plates with script input values? For example, say I'd like to apply an ISO 800 film grain onto an image. Is there a way to achieve this except for trial and error (i.e ...

Re: Convert 3D LUT to hald image
Shouldn't it be supported by ImageMagick directly? I mean, it makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
Can you (or s.o. else) provide some an example that shows how to do it?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Convert 3D LUT to hald image
Hello, I'd like to repeat the question in the original request: Is there a tool that could convert the text format to a hald image? (not in Photoshop or GIMP, but via command line!) What I'd like to achieve is: apply an existing 3D LUT (.3dl or .cube text format) to an identity hald image generated ...
