I should mention that using ACDSee the output is a lot closer to what I can achieve from Gimp (differences almost imperceptible were I not currently drawn to differences), than from ImageMagick, but accept that that does not mean that ACDSee and Gimp are more correct. I used snibgo's ImageMagick command line to produce 'img_agfa.jpg' and can confirm that this is slightly lighter than my original 'image.jpg'.
