OS X 10.9.1 can't read/write jpeg files

The following is basically a duplicate of my question on the users forum. Perhaps the non MacPorts download file has not been updated whilst the instructions that followed have been. It was suggested on the users forum it might be worth mentioning here.

Completely new to image magick and can't get it to work.

I think it is likely I'm suffering due to the issue discussed here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24326

I'm currently using phone connection for internet access trying to get imagemagick to work. Won't have proper internet access for a few days. I was expecting after installing yesterday just to get down to work today.

I've installed from the binary download not via MacPorts using instructions here:

http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binar ... php#macosx

The installation I had installed is 6.8.7 but the instructions for installation describe the path as:

Code: Select all

export MAGICK_HOME="$HOME/ImageMagick-6.8.8"
So since the fix for the issue described above seems to have been done for version 6.8.7-3 I'm assuming version 6.8.8 should have that fix. What I don't understand is why am I downloading version 6.8.7 when ImageMagick seems to be suggesting that the latest release download should be 6.8.8.

I'm not sure downloading Apple's developer tools and macports is going to work on my phone so I'm looking for an alternate solution.

I can verify that the downloaded decompressed folder does say 6.8.7

And per the OP latest post in the User's forum, it seems not have all the usual delegates pre-installed in the binary.
