Etymology of "Hald"?

Post by snibgo »

What is the etymology of "hald"? Is it named after someone, or an acronym for something?

The only references I can find seem to define "hald clut" as a 3D clut (Colour LookUp Table) represented in ImageMagick as a 2D image, which is fair enough, so perhaps some IM developer invented the word.

Or perhaps the word "hald" pre-dates ImageMagick?

I've seen that page. It explains what hald cluts are, but not where the name "hald" comes from.
