erroneous lines in selected region

There is a bug someplace. I do not know if it resides in imagemagick or in some other software/hardware component.

I have upgraded some old hardware and I am now using an amd 2400g processor, asus prime B350m-e motherboard and fedora 27 with imagemagick 6.9.9.38. When I use the import command and select a region with the mouse (the two opposite corners), I obtain residual lines were the cursor position paused during the selection process. The command used was "import extra_lines.gif". I would insert an image if I could figure out how to insert it. Any thoughts on what I should do to eliminate these erroneous lines?
