JPEG library version
JPEG library version
Hi,
I have been trying to install imageMagick on an Ubuntu 16 system.
My initial attempt using the repositories seemed to work, but almost no delegates were present
I then installed libjpef from the repositories, and got:
convert: Wrong JPEG library version: library is 80, caller expects 90
I then removed the repository version, downloaded the latest jpeg libraries (jpegsrc.v9b), built them, and installed them. I then built imagemagic from source as well..but when trying to manipulate jpeg images I get the same error
Any suggestions?

Re: JPEG library version
Check to see if you have two different versions of libjpeg on your system and where they are located. Imagemagick may be trying to access one version, but expects the other and it may not be in the correct path for Imagemagick.
Where did you install libjpeg and where did you install Imagemagick?
What do you get from
also what do you get for JPG from
Where did you install libjpeg and where did you install Imagemagick?

Code: Select all
convert -version
Code: Select all
convert -list format

Re: JPEG library version
You have two versions of libjpeg 8 and 9. IM wants 9, but may be getting 8. Where is IM convert installed?
or
If it is in the path /usr/local, then it is in the same path as libjpeg 9. If not, then that may be the issue.
Do you have any other function that needs libjpeg 8? If not, then remove it and see if IM works.
Code: Select all
find /usr | grep "convert"
Code: Select all
type -a convert

Re: JPEG library version
AH - OK I may have i sorted:
Both imagemagick and the libjpeg libraries had been installed from source, and uninstalled using apt
I had explicitly uninstalled libjpeg8...but the problem remained
Uninstalling libjpeg* seems to have fixed my issue - just running some tests now...

Re: JPEG library version
I have same issue i am using linux mint
Wrong JPEG library version: library is 80, caller expects 90
how do i fix this please i have tried everything online nothing works?? i want to know where i can get the file i need and then i can try and go from there so i can recompile image app and see if it fixes the issue? i cant find the version of lib i need and i tried installing from command line and from source aswell and even mint forums install button also didnt work, also why cant this all come with the image package in 1st place and why cant i use version 8.0 instead of 8 why is this all so confusing!?!?

Re: JPEG library version
I am not an expert on this. But you may have two versions of the JPEG library and Imagemagick is try to use the wrong one. Uninstall libjpeg8, then try re-installing Imagemagick binary. If installing Imagemagick from source, then first install libjpeg9 and libjpeg9-dev. See https://community.linuxmint.com/index.p ... arch/38060

Re: JPEG library version
I am not a Linux user. So I do not know. Ask on the Mint Linux forum. Or perhaps a Linux user here might be able to suggest how to do that.
Re: JPEG library version
ok did what that post you said about to and reinstalled and guess what same problem!
Then i realized i installed from both command line and from source at a later date so i uninstalled both versions and reinstalled and it ow works 100%
