Drawing word wrapped text on top of image

Of course their is...
Create a caption of the specified size, then overlay it on the image!

As soon as you say transparency and GIF, I knew you would have problems.

Avoid GIF at all cost. It uses boolean transparency.

Use PNG for your intermediate image.
