SVG support is incomplete in ImageMagick. We have gradient support in the queue but do not have an ETA just yet. In the mean-time, use the rsvg program.

SVG support is complex and time consuming and we are all volunteers with limited time due to work/life. With a full-time person it would take close to a year to finish support on SVG.

An alturnative to RSVG is the adobe SVG plugins for IE and firefox. I have used it in the past and it works quite well, especially for viewing SVG from the web, such as the SVG documentation site.

SVG also seems to be usable by GNOME, but then Gnome is basied on GTK libraries. But I son't know how to use gnome to view SVG without using RSVG. Sorry.
