Can set quality but can't read?

Looks like a bug in PerlMagick. You are getting the global quality setting rather than the one from the image. We will patch ImageMagick 6.2.9-8 Beta to fix this problem.

You can grade the latest beta of ImageMagick here: ftp://ftp.imagemagick.org/pub/ImageMagick/beta. Its always 24 hours behind. Can't wait, grab the distribution from subversion: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/subversion.php.
