Perhaps it is a 5.0.4 to 5.1.4 glitch. I get a couple _zval_copy_ctor errors when I follow this guide, but I could get it to work great on my 4.4.1 IIS host with just the 2.8MB dll and the php.ini entry. BTW, if you don't have install access but can write your own php.ini, download the php 4.4.4 zip from php.net and post extensions to your site via FTP. Then, add MagickWand and add the appropriate path as extension_dir in php.ini and you, my friend, have just hacked imageMagick onto your server. =)
