convert files with additional dots

Yes, you should be able to. You can also force the filetype with JPEG:"filename". You don't need the "jpeg:", but you can use it if you feel more comfortable or if you are naming the file without an extension.

ex: convert "abcd 1.2.3.gif" jpeg:"abcd 1.2.3.jpeg"
