Request Enhancement of display function

Hi,

When I display an image (Mac OSX Tiger, IM 6.4.0-10) and click on the image a window with menu buttons opens that allows some interactive operations using ImageMagick. The one feature that I don't see (perhaps I am missing it), is the readout of the cursor location coordinates and pixel channel color values for that set of coordinates. This would be very useful. Does this exists? (At one time quite a while ago, I thought I had seen at least the coordinates show). Anyway, if it does not, is that a hard thing to implement? Would you add it to your long list of feature requests. Thanks.

Press the middle button (2nd) and you get a magnify window. It displays the cursor pointer location.

On my Mac, I don't have a middle button - just left and right. But if I select Zoom Image from the Miscellany menu button, I get a zoomed by 2 window, with the cursor and color readout, BUT it is NOT interactive. It is fixed at some odd location in the image and I cannot move that point. If I click with either the left or right mouse buttons, I get a zoom menu with choices of 2, 4, 8 etc. The readout does not change.

On the Mac you can push something like the option key and the right button to simulate button 2. Check on Google to find out the exact sequence of keys/buttons you need to simulate button 2 on your Mac.

Thanks. I looked it up the equivalent key combination for middle mouse button and found conflicting information. One said to use command-left, which did not do anything but open another menu. However another said to use alt-left (option-left) which did something more meaningful, but I am not sure what to expect. I was expecting something interactive where I could move the mouse around on the zoomed image and get continuous readout of the cursor location and colors. Instead, I have to option-click on the (unzoomed picture) and it opens another window with the zoomed image (zoomed about the point clicked) and a dot corresponding to where I clicked in the unzoomed picture and with the coordinates and colors shown. But to get another location, I have to (optionally close the zoomed window) and click again in the unzoomed window, which then opens another zoomed window (zoomed about the corresponding point) with new coordinates. Is this the way it is supposed to work - no interactively movable cursor and immediate readout? Is there any documentation about this feature. If I click on the HELP - Browse Documentation button option, nothing happens - no documentation opens and the HELP - Overview does not seem to discuss this. Thanks. I do appreciate your feedback, even if that is the way it is supposed to work.

The magnify window displays coordinates in real-time as you pan the image window. You can also move the magnified image a pixel at a time by pressing the arrow keys. We have verified it works on the Mac but have not tried it for some time and cannot now recall exactly what voodoo is required.

Thanks. That clue helped. I figured it out.

I have to option-left mouse click and hold on the main image and then while holding down drag the mouse around. The magnified image then pans and shows a dot for the coordinate where the cursor is located in the main image and does readout the coordinates and colors in real-time.

I also found that once I get the zoomed image open, I can do the above or use the arrow keys as you suggested and get updates of the coordinates and colors. The latter works nicely.

It is a bit different to what I expected, but does work. I appreciate the feedback.

With regard to the documentation, is it a bug that when I click on the HELP->Browse Documentation that nothing happens - no window opens with any documentation. Thus I cannot check to see if this feature is explained in the documentation. (A note about this feature in the Overview might be helpful).
