Some user have a xrandr-enabled Xorg server with two screens. When they use
display -window root -backdrop, the picture is split over the two
screens, while they'd prefer to see the picture displayed on one screen
only (and be able to choose it of course).
Using something like DISPLAY=:0.1 of course doesn't work since the
point of xrandr (or older xinerama) is precisely to have only one big virtual screen.
Imagemagick should instead support the xrandr extension for getting
information on the screens.

Your request is more of an enhancement rather than a bug. Enhancements have a lower priority and as such we may not get to for some time. In the mean-time, remind your users that ImageMagick is open-source and they can contribute patches to fix this problem.

In fact we are cleaning your bugzilla. So it looks like for you as a big rush. It is surelly one, but it correspond to four years of bug and wishlist.
Some bug submitted and corrected by you here in the previous few days where kown for example since 2005.
