Installation troubles on OSX

Post by Derleek »

Hello IM community!

I must say I am quite excited to have discovered this tool. Although it has proven quite difficult to install on my local system.

I run MAMP on Snow Leopard.

I tried to follow the instructions on a comment in the PHP manual. Alas, I was having trouble with the ./configure section. After installing GCC from apple the configuration went on fine. (I mention this because I'm not sure if this might have had an effect on the install or not)

When I typed 'make' into the terminal everything seemed to be running just fine, until it spit out an error-

" CCLD ltdl/libltdlc.la
./libtool: line 3182: cd: /Users/Derek/Line: No such file or directory
./libtool: line 961: cd: ltdl/.libs/libltdlc.lax/dlopen.a: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [ltdl/libltdlc.la] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2
"

I figured there was an issue because the IM installation was in a folder called "Line by line". So I simply tried renaming the folder and typing in 'make' again... it proceeded, but with many warnings - bad install.

I would like to know how to scrub all of the damage done from my system - so I can use this shell script - which I believe will allow me to install IM properly.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this on or not,but I figured it was worth a shot.

Thanks in advance for any potential solutions.

Well I went ahead and ran that shell script and it seemed to work properly.

I will report any issue's I have with it.

I'm still worried about the failed install though...
