Problem reading tiff files

I used ImageMgick 6.6.4-Q16. I finally got the mfc example working and it cannot read my tiff files - I get an error message "Cannot read Tiff header tiff.c/Tifferrors/494. When I try to read the original bmp I get - Improper image header error/bmp0.c/readbmpimage/595.

Any ideas? I am able to read these tiff's in many viewers without any problem. But I would like to develop with Magick.

Is there a way to attach sample tif and bmp files?

Can you process the image with the identify command from the MS Command prompt (e.g. identify -verbose image.tif)? If not, post a URL here so we can download and inspect the image.

I put it in:

One is in tif, one is an original bmp that we converted to tif

Not the same source picture - but they were all scanned the same way.
