I am experiencing an similar issue as reported here
I have a series of scanned tif images that are throwing errors when ever I try to use the identify or convert commands.

Some times Imagemagick still run the command despite the warnings, but more often than not it stops.
These tif images are also produced on a Kofax scanning station.

Your file works fine for me on IM 6.6.9.6 Q16 Mac OSX Tiger

It does take time to convert (especially the first time IM is used after booting), so be patient.

The warnings are just that, warnings, because there is some TIFF information field that IM does not recognize. But that should not affect the conversion. You can stop those by using -quiet

convert -quiet long_portrait.tif long_portrait.png

It turns out that IM was still reporting the results of identify after the warnings:
