Conversion PNG -> FITS...data loss?

Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".

Conversion PNG -> FITS...data loss?

I'm using Image Magick-6.7.3.-Q16 to convert PNG-Files into FITS-Files and it worked fine. Unfortunately I don't really know how the programme in particular is working. For this reason my question is the following: are there any data losses during the conversion process?
