Google Search on the Usage section -- creation dates

Post by whugemann »

Hi,

I want to update http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/windows in the oncoming days. While trying a Google search for this page (e.g.: ImageMagick Windows usage), I found that Google dates the page to 23 Apr 2009 and provides this date at the start of the search result. This suggests that the page is rather outdated, but in fact, the page is newer than that, having been changed in 2010.

The same holds for other pages in this section (e.g. search for ImageMagick Montage Usage, which gives 3 Jan 2004). I think this behaviour is initiated by the word "Created" at the end of the HTML code.

I could imagine that this Google report might confuse some new users who search for up-to-date information. Possibly something should be changed in the HTML code of the Usage section of the IM website.
