Where's ARCHIVE link listing IM versions' OS COMPATIBILITY?

Post by WePreferWindows2000 »

    • 1.) The Advanced Search on this board BITES. This criterion spews out 6 pages of mostly unrelated results to sift through: +"Windows 2000"
      • Is there a better way to phrase the search?
    • 3.) I have the same question: Which is the latest version of ImageMagick compatible with Windows 2000?

I find that programs are compiled for XP, for NO GOOD (FUNCTIONALITY OF XP-OR-HIGHER REQUIRED) REASON, and that breaks WIndows 2000 compatibility. Microsoft deliberately set XP as the baseline in default compiler templates, to break compatibility and compel upgrades to its Activation-ridden, Windows-2000-warmed-over XP product. Lazy developers miss this, and the result has been broken Windows 2000 compatibility and arrogant Microsoft fanboys disparaging Windows 2000 users.
Nothing personal, obviously, as this is addressed to no one but the forum: Answers and fixes for the above appreciated.

    Merci

I am not a windows user, but this list compatible versions. Perhaps none are compatible with windows 2000, since it is not listed. But I will defer to the IM developers.

P.S. This is a Users forum and so perhaps you should address this question in the Developers forum. viewforum.php?f=2

Thanks, fmw42, but that page specs only the current version.
An ARCHIVE lists EVERY PREVIOUS VERSION, from 1.0, along with OS compatibility.
That helps people like me looking for the last version of IM compatibile with Windows 2000.

Perhaps you should rephrase your question and ask more directly about Windows archives, especially for Windows 2000. It was not clear to me that that was what you wanted. By the way, the BB board is a commercial product and not IM developed. So it has standard, but simple search mechanisms, that probably return any page it finds with any of the search terms

I have my doubts about binaries for Windows 2000, but you can install from source perhaps. see

The only archives I know about for windows are at:

Thanks, fmv42, for your effort and all the links. None hits the mark, unfortunately.

Following a link to an archive of older versions leads to a list like this:

I don't believe there is such an archive for ImageMagick, unless some third party is maintaining one. We do keep a lot of the old sources, though, at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/imagemagick/files/, so it would still be possible for someone (who has access to old Windows platforms) to construct the compatibility table that you
seek, by attempting to build various ImageMagick versions on the platforms of interest.

I am not sure how you got to WonderApp. When I looked, it showed IM versions.

Nevertheless, no archive that I know shows the versions of windows supported for IM

As I said, you may need to compile from source for your Windows version. Perhaps one of the older Windows binaries will be compatible, but I have no idea which one. Sorry. I do not know further how to help.
