display command error

display command error

i have installed imagemagick6.7.6-5 and when i run display command it shows the error as follows

In addition to those listed above, you can specify these standard X
resources as command line options: -background, -bordercolor,
-borderwidth, -font, -foreground, -iconGeometry, -iconic, -mattecolor,
-name, -shared-memory, -usePixmap, or -title.

By default, the image format of `file' is determined by its magic
number. To specify a particular image format, precede the filename
with an image format name and a colon (i.e. ps:image) or specify the
image type as the filename suffix (i.e. image.ps). Specify 'file' as
'-' for standard input or output.

Buttons:
1 press to map or unmap the Command widget
2 press and drag to magnify a region of an image
3 press to load an image from a visual image directory

what platform are you on? display is only for unix and only if you have X11 support. if windows, try im_display

i am using ubuntu 11.10 ,so i want to display an image e.g flower.png then i typed the command in terminal display.png and i got the error message asso its very important to i mentioned.
Then again i want to do a concat operation by the command; cat gray_head flower,pnm |display & then again it fails to display the output image,
actually i am doing image processing,so desperately need the display command...so please kindly help me to fix this problem

remove the period between display.image.png, it should be display image.png


check your delegates

convert -list configure

check the line starting with DELEGATES. See if it includes png and x11 (along with jpg, tiff, etc)

If so then try simply

display image.png

now i typed in the terminal the command;
display image.png
but it is showing the error message as;
display: delegate library support not built-in `' (X11) @ error/display.c/DisplayImageCommand/1908.

so please help me.....

display: delegate library support not built-in `' (X11) @ error/display.c/DisplayImageCommand/1908.
You do not have X11 installed. You must have that to be able to use the display. See my notes above to verify using

convert -list configure


You must install X11 and then reinstall IM.

i install x11 package and then install im...but stil it is showing the same error message as:
display: delegate library support not built-in `' (X11) @ error/display.c/DisplayImageCommand/1908.

convert -list configure

look at the line starting with DELEGATES. Does it list x11? If not, then IM is not seeing X11 or you did not install it correctly.
