"Display" problem with ImageMagick 6.7.9

Post by mjsaber »

In ImageMagick 6.7.9 on MacOS 10.6.8, "display" cannot show an image in X11(2.3.6 Xquartz) window. It gives "display: unable to open X server `:0' @ error/display.c/DisplayImageCommand/428."
in the Terminal window. Others such as "convert", "identify", work fine using jpeg-, tiff-, pgm-images but "display" does not. I searched for the solution, someone said try export DISPLAY=:0, doesn't work. Then the program freezes, i.e. nothing happens. Could you please tell me how to solve this problem?

I installed IM by $ sudo port install ImageMagick.
I'm a rookie, thank you all to solve my problem. It's really an emergence.
