Just a note to add to snibgo's excellent suggestion. Be aware that some of these %[xxx] string formats are relatively new and may not work on very old versions of IM 6. %[opaque] however goes back to 6.6.8-9. So should work on most versions of Imagemagick.

I'm astonished these %[xxx] string formats cannot work correctly with IM v7.0.7-28

They generally work fine for me. But there has been a bug report about a few not working correctly and that is being corrected for the next IM release.

Very Useful Snibgo, and %[opaque] is recognized by IM 7.0.7-28
