Finding the difference of black and transparent images

Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".

I do it by habit. In some cases, when doing other things with selected channels, you need to reset the channel settings so that you have a proper full RGB image and not just one or two channels. In this case, it probably does not matter.
