Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".
The problem is, the jpg, tif, gif file it generates - won't open in firefox, ie, photoshop, windows preview, etc. The error message in photoshop cs3 is: "Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"
I managed to get convert test.pdf['0'] test.gif to work last night - but for some reason running it from the web won't.
I guess back to the drawing board - thanks!

When you build ImageMagick you need to ensure the JPEG libraries and header files are available. After you run the ImageMagick configure script look at the last 50 lines of output and ensure the JPEG library is validated. If not, look at config.log to determine why JPEG failed to validate, fix the problem, and rerun the configure script until JPEG is validated. Now, rebuild ImageMagick and install and then you will be able to read and write JPEG images.
