Sorry to keep reporting this, but I think 1 min is too long for a conversion to gif when it used to take a few seconds.

HDRI is floating point intensive. Does you computer perform floating point in software or hardware?

It took 8 seconds on our 3Ghz Intel chip to convert logo.jpg to logo.gif with HDRI Q16 ImageMagick.
Actually, I have no idea. Mac OSX Tiger PowerPC (Mac Mini G4 1.42 GHz).

But the point is that under IM 6.4.1-3 HDRI it only took 0.4 sec, but under IM 6.4.1-4, 6.4.1-5 and 6.4.1-6 it takes over a minute. See timings at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11388&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a.

So something has changed for the worse since 6.4.1-3

Retesting:

IM 6.4.3-1 Q16 HDRI

time convert logo.jpg logo.gif

real 0m4.685s
user 0m4.334s
sys 0m0.243s

IM 6.4.1-6 Q16 NON-HDRI (or HDRI)

time convert logo.jpg logo.gif

real 1m18.872s
user 1m7.993s
sys 0m0.887s

So as you can see there is a big difference between the times for IM 6.4.1-3 Q16 HDRI and IM 6.4.1-6 either Q16 or Q16-HDRI. So something has changed for the worse after IM 6.4.1-3 on the same computer.

Is this a Mac (non-Intel) IM compile issue? Can you verify on a Mac OSX Tiger PPC (non-Intel)?

Might this be affected by Ghostscript?

Thanks

Fred

We have a patch for this problem in ImageMagick 6.4.1-8 available sometime tomorrow.
