image tearing converting postscript to bitmap

ImageMagick 6.2.8 03/31/08 Q16
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)
2.6.18-92.1.6.el5
x86_64

When I convert a postscript to any bitmap format(convert command, no options), the image comes out greyscale and with severe tearing(think a crt with h-hold broken).
What can I do to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks,
Brendan

What you describe is not seen by others. Can you try upgrading IM,
and more importantly your ghostscript installation.

I upgraded to the latest version and now all is fine. I wish RPM repositories stayed a little more up to date!
Thanks

Perhaps someone like to contribute IM into the new RPMFusion repository, they seem to have clear guides about how you can contribute updates.

I'll look into this. I don't know anything about packaging...
Ack! Way over my head, and I only have machine access during work hours. Sorry, but I don't think I am your man. :?
