Converting 4-bit compressed BMPs to GIF loses palette

I cannot successfully convert 4-bit compressed Bitmap images to GIF format. After the conversion, the image completely loses its palette, appearing almost completely black except for one or two white pixels here and there. I am using ImageMagick version 6.0.7.1-14. All other Bitmap types (including 8-bit compressed BMPs) are converting fine.

Anybody able to offer any help resolving this? Thanks.

Post a URL to your BMP image. We need to reproduce the problem before we can fix it.

The image URL is:
http://wvnvaxa.wvnet.edu/vmswww/images/ ... press4.bmp

This image is on the following website that I used to test with here:
http://wvnvaxa.wvnet.edu/vmswww/bmp.html

This has been reproducible with any other 4-bit compressed Bitmap used.

Upgrade!. Your image converted properly without complaint with the current ImageMagick release, 6.4.4-2.
