It doesn't make sense unless you are using \! to turn of preservation of aspect ration in resize.
In any case -resize does not change or modify resolution. Only -density , -set density and -resample operators will change the density of an image in memory.
Finally density settings in JPEG is ignored by things like photoshop, which uses its own profile information, unless that profile is also removed.
