Images antialiasing into transparency?

Okay, so I'm rather new to Image Magick. I haven't been able to test my ideas yet, so I'm hoping you can answer my questions in the meantime. 
I have images set on transparent backgrounds that I want to be resized into thumbnails. I'm wondering if it will cause antialiasing (the dreaded halo effect) or not.
