I have a PDF which created from AI. The original AI file had a transparent image embedded in it.

When converting this pdf to a png using GS ver. 7.07 and IM ver. 6.3.6 the embedded image is no longer transparent.

However when converting using the latest version of GS and IM the conversion is fine.

All help would be appreciated.

could be a problem with either old version of ghostscript or IM. suggest you stay with the most current version of both. neither are going to go back and fix problems in old versions when a newer version works fine.
