Installation problems

Post by jonboy »

I just installed Image Magick 6.5.5.0-Q16 under Windows XP. The installation completed but the application will not start. I get the following error: The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. I previously had version 6.3.8.-0.Q16 installed and it was working fine. I uninstalled 6.3.8 prior to installing the new version as per the installation instructions suggested. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, rebooting in between but I still get the same error. Any ideas?

I experienced a similar issue with Windows Vista. I installed IM ver. 6.5.5-0 Q16 static version. Installation successful, but when launching convert or mogrify I got the following error: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

I got a slightly different error after I installed the dynamic version. A popup dialog read: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click OK to terminate the application."

I then installed the MS C++ package as indicated at the very bottom of the IM downloads page). It fixed the problem. Everything works fine now.

I had simular problem with installing:
ImageMagick-6.5.5-0-Q8-windows-static.exe
on windows 2003 server and windows 2008 server.
The regsvr32 failed to register the ImageMagickObject.dll.
(However I could install ImageMagick-6.5.4-10-Q8-windows-static.exe without errors)

But after installing "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" as sugessted above the installation of "ImageMagick-6.5.5-0-Q8-windows-static.exe" was succefull.
Thanks.
