I'm trying to read alpha channels from a bitmap file created from GIMP. The alpha works fine in GIMP, but as soon as I use some other program, such as ImageMagick or Photoshop, the transparency becomes whiteness.
Is this a bug, or simply a lack of a feature?

Post a URL to one or two of your images. We need to download them and inspect them before we can comment.

He posted a link to one small image in the link in his first message above referring to the top posted on the User's forum. I tested it and had the same problem as described in the link.
