Permission denied error only on -transparent

I just installed ImageMagick on this computer, Mac OS 10.6.5, and everything else I have tried with it has worked fine. I can convert an image to different types, make thumbnails, and a few other things no problem. However, when I attempt the following:

sketch.png -transparent white sketch2.png

I get this error:

-bash: sketch.png: Permission denied

That's odd, because I can do other operations with that exact file successfully. Any thoughts? I omitted the full path in my post, since it was unnecessary clutter. It was present in my commands and the error.

try

convert sketch.png -transparent white sketch2.png

If that fails, then post a link to your sketch.png input image.
