I am not seeing any differences visually between:
PNG:
convert rose: rose_6767.png
convert rose: -colorspace rgb rose_rgb_6767.png
convert rose: -colorspace srgb rose_srgb_6767.png
similarly
JPG:
convert rose: rose_6767.jpg
convert rose: -colorspace rgb rose_rgb_6767.jpg
convert rose: -colorspace srgb rose_srgb_6767.jpg
Should there be a difference?

Depends on what is happenign with 'auto-colorspace' handling during write!
I asked a question previosuly. should PNG images be able to save and load (preserving colorspace)
linear-RGB images.
Also it does not look like we have a sGray colorspace as yet!
Meaning the piped 'MIFF' images could still have colorspace issues.
