SGI RGB not working in 6.2.8.0-15

Hello. I have looked everywhere and I could not find anything to answer my problem.
We have been using IM version 6.2.8.0-4 on CentOS 5.3 and recently upgraded to Center)S 5.5 with IM version 6.2.8.0-15. In doing so, our SGI RGB files now give "Improper image header" whenever we try to use any IM tools on them. We have tried various different files that we have had for quite a while to no avail. Doing an identify on one the files in the -4 version yields this:
fire01.rgb SGI 32x32 32x32+0+0 DirectClass 4.5kb
I noticed in the ChangeLogs that in version 7 there was a fix to "Fix SGI image decoding" and I was wondering if that is what broke this. Most of our image files are created in Maya and exported to SGI RGB files. We also have an application written with OpenSceneGraph that produces rgb files and those do not work either. Every other imaging program we use, even updated ones, have had no problem with the files.
