Problem @ unite two pieces of one image

Hello users,

Trying to manipulate some images for academic purposes and I am really lost on how I can join/unite two pieces of my image.

I can't upload here, so I will try to explain:
Imagine I have one image like:

I would like to do something that join that spot in blank.

Any ideas?

The problem is that I have some documents with bad scan, and some letters are 'cuted' So, I would like to join this letters for a better use of Tesseract OCR

post your images on some free image hosting web site, such as dropbox or any other, and then put a link here to those images so we can see what you are trying to do.
