Large file size from jpg to eps with preview conversion

Hi
I'm using Imagemagick version 6.6.5-10, GhostScript version 9.0 on a mac OSX 10.6.8

When converting a jpg file to an eps file with a preview I get a huge file.
example
convert theJpgFile.jpg EPT3:theEPSFile.eps

theJpgFile.jpg 627KB 1268x1726

Here are the resulting file sizes for the different EPS files.
EPS conversion 13.3MB
EPS3 conversion 831KB
EPT3 conversion 13.5MB


How do I decrease the file size of the EPS file with the tiff preview??
