I checked some PAM images with ImDisplay of ImageMagick-6.8.8-Q16 and got an inverted alpha channel if the subformat is BLACKANDWHITE_ALPHA.
No issues with gray and rgb alpha variants.

The specification of this format is quite limited so the issue may also be in the file data.

We can reproduce the problem you posted and have a patch in ImageMagick 6.8.8-8 Beta, available by sometime tomorrow. Thanks.
