Imagemagick not updating thumbnail

Hello,

I'm working with imagemagick to make some modifications to an image and produce a new image. Problem is, even after the modifications windows still shows the old thumbnail on the new jpeg file. Is there any way to fix this?

Please, always provide your IM version and platform when asking questions, since syntax may differ. Also provide your exact command line and if possible your images.

Depending upon your processing commands, ImageMagick may not reset the thumbnail preview. I see that happen when writing over some old images. Have you tried saving to a new output, then renaming it back to the original with our OS?

I'm using 7.0.6 and building a script that needs to work on both Windows and Ubuntu.

I managed to fix this by simply using -strip to delete the EXIF data

Sounds like a reasonable solution, since -strip removes the xmp profile, which I believe is where the thumbnail is stored. You could try +profile "xmp" rather than -strip.

No. IM doesn't update thumbnails.
